Classical music is a style of Western music that was composed from the 1750’s to the 1820’s. This form of music is characterized by homophonic melodies with a light and clear texture. Classical music is elegant and similar to jazz and Baroque music.
Classical songs can be very short or very long, and some religious, some secular. The different forms of classical music are the symphony, sonata, opera, concerto, oratorio, fugue, and suite.
Classical music began during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance with mostly vocal music, but it developed over time. In the Baroque period, opera and orchestra were formed. Following the Baroque era was the Classical period, a critical time for the development of music and orchestra. Many pieces were inspired by the classical art of Ancient Greeks and Romans. Feelings and human emotions were important aspects of the Romantic period in the 18th century. Finally, 20th century classical was a period of new ways of composing.
